ALERT processes images from a moving sequence and tracks the lane markings robustly, using a combination of local inter-marking interpolation and global extraction. The system runs in real-time on two PowerPCs. More detail will be published once patenting issues are resolved.

Horizontal line segments are tracked within the current lane and the one associated with the bottom of the next vehicle is determined.
