We are going to stay in Ambleside, Cumbria for a few days after the wedding for some rigorous hiking and to spend more time with people who would like to join us. The area around the wedding hotel has some nice peaks that we'll do on day hikes (the highest, Scafell, is 3200 feet). There are also numerous walks in the area that are less strenuous but no less beautiful, as well as some lovely villages and good restaurants/pubs. We have rented out a flat in this area . We'll leave it up to you to find accommodation: there are plenty of hotels and B&Bs in this area; for those who are on a budget, there is a very reasonable youth hostel in the Waterhead area. It is worth mentioning that, since the weekend of our wedding is a Bank Holiday weekend, it is a good idea to book in advance if possible.
